The SCN Newsletter 2025 MLB Preview continues. This week, the Eye of Dudley casts its gaze on the AL West. It’s a division with three teams that have their sites set on the postseason and two teams best hoping not to embarrass themselves too much. All five teams have players of note in the hobby, and the games will affect their cards even if their team outlook is dismal.

Lately, I’ve been feeling a little nostalgic when it comes to sports cards.
I find myself on the hunt for cards that remind me of the game’s past, of my younger days.
I just added a 1985 Topps Kirby Puckett rookie to the inventory, as well as a 1983 Topps Wade Boggs RC, and a 1985 Topps Dwight Gooden rookie card.
In total, these cards cost me less than $25… for all three.
Are they all in gem-mint condition?
Absolutely not, but they are all in very good shape for their age, and they’re already on a mail truck headed to Florida and the fine folks at SGC.
Quick Hits
Hobby News- Topps Series 1 is selling briskly, and it’s starting to become clear what the big chase cards are. Barry Bonds autos, Frank Thomas NNOF SPs, and anything Ohtani scribbled on is hot, but Larry David might be the big chase. His autos are going for four figures with a 1/1 that just snagged an impressive $10,000+ price tag.
Vintage- Every week it seems like we’re talking about rare Babe Ruth cards… so this week, let’s talk about some rare Babe Ruth cards. This time, these highlight an auction at Goldin where a 1916 M101-5 Sporting News Ruth rookie card graded PSA 1.5 sold for $244,000! Read more about this incredible auction here.
