he MLB Hobby Preview rolls on with the AL East. There are superstars and tons of young talent. To me, it’s mainly a division with a lot of players walking the edge between hobby stardom and hobby irrelevancy. 2025 will be a critical season for these players.
BALTIMORE ORIOLES
The Orioles are stacked with hobby-relevant young players. Gunnar Henderson is at the top of the pecking order and had an MVP-caliber 2024. I’ve been surprised by the lack of buzz around him this off-season. He is clearly the Pepsi to Bobby Witt Jr.’s Coke in the hobby.

here’s a question here in the Detroit area that has really caught on with baseball fans — “Who is your Tiger?”
Every year since this was first posed by some ad agency in town, I’ve never really cared. I’m an Orioles guy from way back in the day.
That said, the Tigers are still my hometown team, and I have a ton of great memories wrapped around that old English D — and more to come, too, I’m sure.
This season however, albeit we’re like a month into it, I’ve got an answer to that question, and I believe it’s one that hobby lovers can benefit from as well.

Quick Hits
Hobby News- Topps Cosmic Chrome Football is out on March 17. The Cosmic line has proven popular with baseball collectors. It's also the latest in a string of Topps football releases and one wonders if these should have been "spaced" out a bit more. Still, the Cosmic treatment should be a hit, but without licenses in a crowded market, it won;t be as out of this world as it could have been.
Vintage - It’s a card that is nearly 75 years old yet it’s still the most iconic baseball card of all time — ‘52 Topps Mantle. In case you want to add one of these to the collection, you Cana pair of some freshly graded ones at REA Auction’s March Monthly auctions. The copies are a PSA 4 and SGC 3.
