Sports Cards Nonsense Ultimate 2021-22 QB Guide
DISCLAIMER: While we may have VERY STRONG opinions on NFL QBs (what sports fan doesn’t?), we are not NFL analysts, and quite frankly, they don’t know much either. There will be no predictions about who may be great, who may have a bad year, etc. Instead, what we will focus on is potential upside and downside based on current information in the infosphere.
Sports Cards Nonsense is delighted to present our 2021-22 NFL QB preview for you. In this guide, you’ll find many helpful links that will help you stay updated during the season. Remember, we are still dealing with COVID-19 and all of the protocols around that so this year should be extremely volatile in the QB space. We may see more opportunities to take a look at some young guys that we otherwise wouldn’t see and I assume we will have one or two standouts.

This week, Mike Gio took to Instagram to address the baseless shade thrown at us by an anonymous Instagrammer. More on this below.
As always, check out the podcast and get involved in the conversation in the SCN Facebook group
Mike Gio was quoted in this article about Michael Rubin
Monday’s podcast covered Last-Minute NFL Buys, Underrated NBA cards and answered questions from fans
Thursday’s podcast covered the Captain, Derek Jeter’s Rookie Cards, Topps NFTs (yuck), and mailbag questions
Mike Gio took to Instagram to discuss the new SGC service model. (Disclaimer: they’re a sponsor. They made a good decision. Had they made the wrong decision, Mike would’ve come in hard in the paint Bill Laimbeer style. )
Random Rant
My first experience in the card hobby was in 1992-93ish. I went to a baseball card show and got ripped off by a sleazy dealer. I’ll write about it one day but to that point, I LOATHE the rip-off artists in the hobby.
When I first listened to the SCN podcast, my working assumption was that Mike and Jesse were probably trying to utilize their audience to pump cards, sell stuff, or whatever stereotype I had about card people. As I listened, I noticed that they seemed to have integrity and consistency, so I kept listening. I had toyed with the idea of doing a newsletter focused on deep dives in the sports card hobby, industry, and collector space for a while. Two things made me want to collaborate with SCN on this:
After I saw Mike Gio talk about how he was making 800% on NBA Prizm hobby doing breaks and justifying it simply by explaining the demand. He did this right on Facebook Live to his audience and explained the economics of breaking and his arrangement with Gio Breaks. In my opinion, it was a bit TMI but it shows their commitment to transparency.
Who else gives people cash for overpaying for cards on Whatnot? Noone I’ve seen and I’ve seen some pretty ridiculous buys on there at times. Again, it shows commitment to transparency and loyalty to their audience.
As such, I love that the anonymous IGrammer goes after the scammers in the hobby and makes them famous. However, the notion that sponsors on a podcast or influencer community is somehow a “revelation” is laughable. Mike and Jesse are very transparent about their relationships with their sponsors and annoyingly go out of their way to make it very clear on the podcast when they’re speaking about a sponsor. Does anyone give Bill Simmons guff when he does NFL over/unders sponsored by FanDuel?
These guys are top notch and that’s why I wanted to collaborate with them on this project. They clearly have integrity in a hobby that sincerely lacks it. To anonymous IGguy, pump your breaks and please consider being more thoughtful when attempting to needlessly throw shade for clicks.
