NBA 2021-22 Preview (Part 1)
For this special Columbus Day edition and for the next few weeks, we are going to be digging deep into the NBA as it’s the most popular sport in the hobby. Football and Baseball peeps, we will still have plenty for you too!
Last week, the NBA GMs released their annual survey. In this survey is a ton of great info on the upcoming season. I use this to determine my early season NBA buys every year. Here’s why:
This is the best sourced and most informed analysis available. NBA GM’s have a lot of inside information as well as a ton of analytics data, scouting reports, etc.
No-one knows what’s you going to happen in any sport. No GM can predict a guy’s genetic makeup, durability, grit, etc from afar but you can be sure that this is the best predictor of who has the ability to succeed.

With Jaylen Brown back, this year should be a big one for Tatum
He is in the MVP conversation
His base isn’t overproduced and he had some stellar performances in the playoffs last year which looks like a preview of what’s to come
De’Andre Hunter
Coming back from injury is always a great time to buy
Avoid base, buy silvers and variants here
Pro-uni patch autos are a good buy here
I was able to snag one of these last night on whatnot at about 30% below comps

New Product Releases
Baseball-Topps Update is back on the 13th. Dying to see Kris Bryant in a Giants uni? This is your chance! Mostly base set, this set does include the beloved 1993 Black Gold throwback styles. With Hobby boxes at around $105, this is an affordable product and if you love Topps, its worth the money. I’ll be doing a personal rip of a box on whatnot today.
WWE- Topps Chrome drops on the 15th. Also, for you WWE fans, Topps Chrome is out and this may be the last major Topps release for WWE as the rights deal is coming to an end. IMO, this is the end of an era and this product is worth grabbing.
Digital Updates
Personally, I have a passion for digital products like Panini NFT, TopShot, etc. I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea so if it’s not yours, feel free to close your newsletter experience right here. We will be doing a bit more of this in the coming weeks but it will be “extra” and will not take away from the card content in the newsletter.
Panini’s NFT Team did an AMA on their discord channel last week. We wrote it up here.
This week, NBA TopShot is releasing “Run It Back” packs for the 2005-06 season.
Nonsense
On Monday, Mike Gio was on a tropical island enjoying virgin pina coladas and snorkeling with bull sharks. Jesse held it down in central Tennessee and started planning some awesome videos for the newsletter.
Mike couldn’t wait to drop some knowledge on the Nonsensicals so on Wednesday night, the fellas did an extensive Instagram Live for you!
On Thursday, the fellas brought heat for their MLB playoff preview. Longest podcast of all time!
